Liking, knowing, needing
నాకు ఇష్టం, నాకు తెలుసు, నాకు కావాలి.
For likes, knowledge, needs and feelings, Telugu puts the person in the "to" form, with -కి or -కు, and the thing liked or needed is the subject. "I like coffee" is నాకు కాఫీ ఇష్టం nāku kāphī iṣṭaṁ, "to me coffee is liked".

Feelings
A feeling noun with -గా and ఉంది uṁdi says how you feel: ఆకలి ākali "hunger" gives నాకు ఆకలిగా ఉంది nāku ākaligā uṁdi "I'm hungry". The same pattern works with దాహం dāhaṁ "thirst", చలి cali "cold", భయం bhayaṁ "fear" and బాధ bādha "sorrow": నాకు దాహంగా ఉంది nāku dāhaṁgā uṁdi "I'm thirsty". Some feelings "come" instead: నాకు కోపం వచ్చింది nāku kōpaṁ vacciṁdi "I got angry", నాకు నిద్ర వస్తోంది nāku nidra vastōṁdi "I'm getting sleepy".
Wanting to do
To want to do something is "to me it is that I should do it": the -ఆలి form of the verb, అని ani and ఉంది uṁdi, run together (Must, can, may).
- nāku telugu nērcukōvālani uṁdi.I want to learn Telugu.
