Because

から, ので and other ways to give a reason.

から and ので both mean "because" and come after the reason. Japanese gives the reason first and the result second, the reverse of English "X because Y".

Beforeからので
A verb行くから行くので
An い-adjective高いから高いので
A noun or な-adjective雨だから雨なので

から

から is direct and common in speech. It follows plain or polite forms, and works before requests, suggestions and opinions.

ので

ので is softer and sounds more objective, so it is good for explanations and excuses, especially to people above you. Nouns and な-adjectives take な before it: 雨なので, 静かなので.

Answering why

A reason + からです answers "why?". ので can't be used this way.

At the start of a sentence, だから, or the polite ですから, means "so" or "that's why".

ため

ため, or ために, means "because of" in formal writing and announcements. Nouns take の: 事故のため. After a noun it also often means "for (the sake of)": 安全のため "for safety", 家族のために "for my family". With a verb of intention, ため means "in order to": 日本で働くために "in order to work in Japan".

The て form as a reason

A て form can give a light reason, often for feelings or for results you didn't choose. It can't come before a request, an invitation or "let's".
