In Wales we have a proverb.

He comes from Wales.

"Which country are your friends from?" "Wales."

England proper does not include Wales.

Now, think about England and Wales, and imagine them divided into smaller parts.

In the north, there's Scotland; in the south, England; in the west, Wales; and further west, Northern Ireland.
