Just like as soon as Av begins, we decrease in happiness, so too as soon as Adar begins, we increase in happiness.
מֵת אָב וּמֵת אֱלוּל, וּמֵת חֻמָּם \ גַּם נֶאֱסַף תִּשְׁרֵי וּמֵת עִמָּם,
Av is dead, and Elul is dead, and their heat is dead; Tishrei too has passed away and died with them.
